Michelle McClain Walters is a Best-Selling Author, Renowned Apostolic Leader, and Faith Coach to women around the globe. Her life has influenced and impacted women of all walks of life as she gives them a safe place to build and grow.
She has been in ministry for over 25 years. Her first interaction of God speaking to her was when she was about four-or-five years old as she watched her mom die from a rare blood disease. She heard a voice tell her to say “Jesus;” and every time she would say the name “Jesus,” her mother would come to a place of peace. Always by her bed, watching trying to figure out what was going on, she watched her jovial mother, now, in a hospital bed at home. The silver rail of the bed caused a separation between her and her mother.
In high school she was more mature than her friends. It became the joke that she would get this look on her face when she would hear that voice, but it was those looks that saved them from trouble. She vividly remembers being at a party one night and hearing the voice of The Lord telling her to leave. Her and one of her, now, best girlfriends left the party only later to find that some of the other girls were gang raped. She speaks of this in the first book she wrote, The Prophetic Advantage.
In her book, The Prophetic Advantage, she teaches others how to hear God, connect God, develop a relationship with God, and how He feels about you. The first time she heard the story of redemption, how Jesus paid the price for us was at the age of 17 or 18; and that is when she really got it… when she was truly saved. The thing that gripped her the most was hearing and knowing the God has a purpose for your life. You are not in this world by chance, not in the decade by chance; you are here for a purpose. That began her journey and grew a relationship with Jesus.
She married young because she didn’t want to fornicate. During the four years of her first marriage, it was a very hard battle. Her and her partner were both very young, and had no clue what they were doing. They both served in ministry, but behind closed doors it was always a fight. From her first marriage, her daughter was born. Now a missionary, her daughter is her “first fruit,” as she says.
When she turned 25 her life changed. She divorced, and joined Apostle Eckhardt ministry. From there, her life changed. She began to get healing and deliverance; there, she learned that God speaks. She became alive. Her journey of prayer started.
During her time of prayer, she would have encounters, visitations, angels would come and visit, and many different dreams. Dreams of her standing before multitudes, teaching and preaching to different nationalities. Michelle grew up with a Baptist background, always in church on Sunday no matter where she was or what she was doing the night before. She was taught that women could not preach, so it was odd for her to have these dreams.
After the death of her mother, Michelle was raised by her grandmother with the help of her aunts. The death of her mother was very devastating to her grandmother, she was the oldest girl, the leader of the family. Growing up without a mother or a father, she was always searching for significance. She began to search the Bible for women that looked like her to identify who she was and looking for role models in scripture that could give her insight. That started her writing about these women in the Bible as she found a part of her in each of them. Esther is the part of her that teaches and trains. She lives by the concept of when the person ahead of her pours into her she turns and pours into the next person. We have to reproduce; we have to teach one another.
Initially, Michelle did not want to coach women. She had not always had positive encounters with other women in ministry and her orphan heart made her doubt herself. Although she had traveled to 55 nations, written 12-to-13 books, held 9 conferences, and sold 250,000 copies of her book, she did not feel she had something that would capture the audience of others to seek her as a coach. It was after she threw out the net to see if anyone would come, that her heart was pricked. These women chose her, supported her; why wouldn’t she choose them? From there, her faith-based coaching was birthed.
In her coaching sessions, she teaches straight from the scripture and helps you discover what God has called you to do and develop that. She believes that our destiny is in Christ Jesus. If you are living in your purpose and understand your destiny, you can move very quickly and can alleviate a lot of mistakes. If it doesn’t match with God’s vision, then it is division. We want to have people in our lives that we can collaborate with and can help us to move forward, but we need to make sure we are destiny driven.
We all have a book of destiny. In Psalm 139, the scripture says “my days were written for me before they were in me.” Legendary Woman, Partnering with God to Become the Hero of Your Own Story speaks on women learning to love their story. Insight is given, but foundation is built. We must all start with the right foundation. During her coaching session, one of the questions she asks is, “How do you see God?” The way that you see God is the way that you serve God. She reminds us that God is for us. We are so hard on ourselves, beating ourselves up, having low self-esteem, thinking that we are not enough and believing God is saying no when He is actually saying yes. We all have a point of reference, and she helps her coaching clients to build a strong foundation. Dealing with matters of the heart, spirt, soul, and body.
