Porscha Coleman Brings the Heat and Heart to Divorced Sistas

Actress and singer Porscha Coleman lit up the Women for the Culture Instagram during her exciting takeover, giving fans an inside look at her role as Naomi in Tyler Perry’s new series Divorced Sistas and sharing all the details about her new self-titled EP.

Naomi’s spicy and bold character is guaranteed to be a scene-stealer. Porscha teased that viewers can expect drama, vulnerability, and plenty of layered moments from her character and fellow castmates. “This is what you can expect from Naomi this season, expect the unexpected,” she shared. “Naomi’s character is the wild child. She’s fierce, she is lovable, but she's also dangerous, and she likes to get into a little fun”.

When asked what drew her to the role, Porscha talked about her love for Tyler Perry and being an “avid watcher” of Sistas, describing herself as a “day one” fan. Auditioning for a role on Divorced Sistas felt perfectly aligned. “When I heard there was Divorced Sistas, I was like, oh my goodness, this is amazing, and my agents let me go audition. And I saw it, and I was geeked. I said, ‘This is the show,’” she shared with excitement.

Coleman also explained how Divorced Sistas and Sistas differ, giving both shows their own space to thrive while Divorced Sistas carves out a lane of its own. “It’s a different cast, and then we have different circumstances…our show Divorced Sistas, some girls are married, some girls are divorced, some girls are in situationships that want to get married, and some girls can’t even get the guy out of their house that they’ve been living with forever,” she said. Porscha shared that the stories in Divorced Sistas reflect the experiences of so many women we know, maybe even ourselves. These stories are raw, real, and relatable.
