The storms haven’t just been heavy in Tennessee they followed me right to Atlanta. However, not even the rain, could dim the light of a sophisticated and glamorous night.
This night out in Atlanta brought a new meaning to going up on a Tuesday, as we celebrated culture and the cast of Tyler Perry’s new hit series Divorced Sistas for their “Closure and Cocktails” event. The exclusive occasion hosted by Jazzy McBee and held at Retreat by The Gathering Spot celebrated the release of Tyler Perry’s Divorced Sistas, giving guests a chance to connect with the cast, learn more about their characters, and experience the energy behind the show in real time.
The event was truly star-studded, with some of Atlanta’s hottest and most familiar faces gracing the space. Celebrities like T.I., Big Tigger, and cast members from some of our favorite Tyler Perry BET+ shows were in the building. I even had the chance to catch up with two of the five lead stars, Porscha Coleman and Khadeen Ellis. But more than that, it was the warm, welcoming, and energizing atmosphere that stood out most. It wasn’t just another industry event, it felt inviting and intentional.
Guests were treated to cocktails, great food, and an atmosphere that encouraged genuine connection. The fireside chat left us anticipating episode three of Divorced Sistas, karaoke sparked laughter and spontaneous singalongs, we sipped on specialty drinks inspired by each character of the show, and of course, many of us hit the dance floor to show off our moves.
The cast shared personal insights into their characters and the heart of the show. Divorced Sistas isn’t just about ending relationships; it’s about raw, real conversations many Black women know all too well: endings, sacrifices, disappointments, mistakes, yet having sisterhood to help navigate life and support you through it.
An evening of Closure and Cocktails, gave a glimpse into what audiences can expect from the show: strong storytelling, layered characters, and a commitment to reflecting real-life experiences through an authentic lens. If the energy in that room was any indication, Divorced Sistas is not just a show to watch, it’s one to feel.
Divorced Sistas is now available for streaming on BET+, so don’t miss out on the powerful stories of these captivating characters.
