HollywoodUnlocked Impact Awards: Where Black Culture Holds the Key

The Hollywood Unlocked Impact Awards were flowing with “diamonds and pearls” and we're not talking about Prince. We’re talking about the attendees! Hosted by Tiffany Haddish, the HollywoodUnlocked Impact Awards packed out the Beverly Hilton with the tastemakers, yes, but most importantly, those who make it their purpose to contribute to the culture.

This, the 5th annual celebration, praised the influential and impactful in the industry, and as Jason Lee said, “the fearless.” Honorees of the night included: Keke Palmer, Don Lemon, Fantasia, Niecy Nash and Vic Mensa.

The evening started with the guests sashaying down the gold-and-rose decorated carpet. Conversations flowed from politics to future journey endeavors. Black EXCELLENCE showed up and showed out.

The Award ceremony’s music was directed by none other than the legendary BabyFace, with selections by Johnny Gill, Fantasia, and Yolanda Adams. As libations, carefully played cuisine, and good energy filled the room, Keke Palmer graced the audience with an impromptu performance of Mary J. Blidge’s “I’m going down” to which she received a standing ovation. YOU HAD TO BE THERE.

You could tell how much love and consideration Jason Lee put into every single detail. Yes, Jason loves him some Us. And our beloved Jason, we love you back! Thank you for allowing us to celebrate you and congratulations on the five years. We are looking forward to many many more.
