OWN is truly feeding us this holiday season because "The Christmas Showdown" is exactly the kind of festive chaos and heart we all secretly love. Premiering December 6th, the film stars Amber Stevens West as Chastity and Corbin Reid as April, two best friends who suddenly forget they are best friends once one big opportunity hits the table.

The legendary Loretta Devine is retiring from her long held role as the event producer of the Sugar Heights Christmas Eve Spectacular and she needs to choose her successor. That’s when the bells start ringing and the claws start showing because both Chastity and April want the job. And baby, they go toe to toe.

Chastity is the overachieving planner, the “organized down to her eyelashes” friend. Meanwhile April is that girl who curates moments and creates magic through vibes alone. Put those two head to head and you already know the outcome is going to be festive, funny, and slightly chaotic.

The movie turns into a full blown holiday war. Think Christmas lights, creative sabotage, back-to-back attempts to outdo each other, and a whole lot of “girl, why are you doing all that” moments. And underneath all of it is a message we all need to hear, especially during the holidays: some of the things we hold grudges over are so small compared to the love and connection we risk losing.

There is a moment that made me stop and blink. Chastity’s boyfriend tells her he’s leaving town because all she does is harp on her grievances with April and she needs to handle that. The way I felt that in my spirit. We’ve all been there, letting pride or hurt talk louder than love, dragging old wounds into new seasons, and learning the hard way that forgiveness is the only way forward.

By the end, the movie reminds us how beautiful reconciliation can be and how love, friendship, and a little humility can turn even the biggest showdown into a breakthrough.
So, grab your blanket, pour something warm, and get into this holiday lesson disguised as a comedy!
Tune into OWN on December 6 and watch "The Christmas Showdown." You’re going to laugh, reflect, and maybe call a friend you’ve been avoiding.
