Tyler & Devon said "Ruth & Boaz," and Netflix said "PRESS PLAY." Period!

We're 24 hours in to the collab we didn’t know we needed. Yes, Devon Franklin and Tyler Perry came in hot with the global premiere of their Netflix film, Ruth & Boaz on September 26. Women For The Culture had the honor of being invited to the special advance screening prior its release and there is nothing like being in the room where faith and storytelling collide. This "modern-day reimagining" of the biblical parable stars Tyler Lepley and Serayah. Oh, and the cherry on top...? Our favorite auntie, Ms. Phylicia Rashad.

This motion picture was the start of a union we hope to see last for decades. The narration, cinematography, and 21st-century adaptation of a famous romance story was nothing short of phenomenal. Perry and Franklin ushered our hopes and dreams of what the possibilities of love could be.

Franklin hosted a Q&A with the main characters, led by Erica Campbell following the screening and also shared exclusive tales on his "beautiful" journey with his now wife, Maria Castillo. He said that during the filming of Ruth & Boaz, his Ruth cwas unfolding right before his eyes." The cast talked about what love meant to them as Campbell asked them all the questions we wanted to know.

Netflix did their "big one" hosting this premiere. Devon talked about how the Black community seldom sees biblical love stories or stories in general that are backed by financial power houses like Netflix. You are going to laugh, cry, and you’ll also be moved by love. Make sure you “let him use you!” Take a special look inside with a few exclusive photos from the film below as you stream and let us know what you think!
